I finished up a couple of updates to the Activity Log a week or so ago and wanted to give a brief overview of what has changed. If anyone has any suggestions or criticisms, I’m always listening!
The Activity Log has been updated to match the style of the food search page, meaning that the commands are now at the top of the log instead of ...

I see the calories per minute have been added. Kudos! I also noticed the improvements to the Exercise log. Double kudos! It's very sleek.
However, I regret to report a new problem with the site. I'm using Firefox 3.0.5 on Windows Vista, and my Pantry won't work anymore! I can add a food to the pantry, but then when I ...

You guys are correct, there isn't a place to enter custom exercise entries at this time. This is something I've been meaning to do (as is evident by the post above), but haven't gotten around to it as I've been busy redesigning the old pages to match the new theme and creating some new stuff along the way. But as more people have ...

Thanks for the amazing free site - I've just started using it today! I have a question about how best to use the Activity Log when it contains all the normal/inactive stuff everyone does in a day. If I start off with a basic daily calorie allowance of 2000 and then report that I slept for 8 hours, it says that burned 400 calories sleeping, ...

I've been kind of busy working on new pages, fixing errors, and answering questions that I forgot to add posts for the Activity Log / Pantry / Create Food pages...whoops!
Activity Log
Anyways, it started with the new Activity Log. New layout which I think is a lot slicker than before...I think. Plus, you can now add an activity to ...

I don't know of a direct formula that would convert the # of steps into time...what I recommend you do is create a baseline. Strap on the counter and walk for 10 minutes straight at a leisurely pace. Then take that # of steps and use it for your calculations each day.
For example, say you walk for 10 minutes and that equals 1,000 ...

You should set you activity level at Lightly Active. This setting will incorporate your day to day activities but doesn't incorporate any exercise.
Moderately Active would incorporate about 30 minutes of activity every other day.

It is pretty slick the way that the system takes your current weight into account. (Only wish that the system could recognize the heat factor....) Doesn't it affect the amount of calories burned when the temperature is high.....like 85+? Perhaps that is just wishful thinking....
Hey RD,
Truth be told, ...

I should be able to add Pilates to the list of exercises; I think I have the METs value for Pilates but will have to bounce it against a couple more sites (and hopefully find something legitimate) before adding it.
Adding custom exercises is a great idea but difficult to implement based on the way the database is currently structured. ...
