Hi Janet,
I really haven't had the time to convert the site over to a mobile version yet. To be honest, the task is kind of daunting; not enough time in the day or something!
This is really a question for anyone who reads this and has a mobile phone that is internet-ready: Since I can't possibly convert the entire site over to ...

Thanks to both of you for providing these lists! Pretty much every little thing you use on the site was recommended by somebody and some time. While it may seem that stuff doesn't move very fast around here (and it doesn't, since its only me and I work on this site in the evenings), I do take every single recommendation into ...

Hi Amal,
I visited the site, are you referring to the ideal weight calculation or the medical recommendation? The Weight Goal page (recentally re-done) does give you your medical recommendation when you click the Calculate Body Mass Index link.
If you're referring to the ideal weight calculation, I'll need to look into a little bit, I ...

Good idea on searching the Pantry. I'll look into that and work on incorporating it.
I was actually planning on creating a food history table that would appear as a new tab in the nutrition facts label. Something I think everyone would find useful in one way or another...how many candy bars did you eat over the past 3 ...

Thanks Chris. I'll start working on a strategy to implement this feature as I think it would definitely prove beneficial for lots of people. And I agree 100% with the idea of keeping it simple at first and then elaborating on it at a later date. Thanks for the valuable input!

I don't know of a direct formula that would convert the # of steps into time...what I recommend you do is create a baseline. Strap on the counter and walk for 10 minutes straight at a leisurely pace. Then take that # of steps and use it for your calculations each day.
For example, say you walk for 10 minutes and that equals 1,000 ...

Another good idea, but this is pretty difficult to implement. It's possible, but extremely taxing on the server that is hosting FoodsDatabase. Since I'm ''small-time'' the server is one that is affordable for me and works good on a day to day basis as long as things don't get too complicated (programming wise).
I'm considering ...

I really think vitamin supplements should be included in the food search. I take a multi-vitamin everyday, taking this would change some analysis' quite a bit. Any thought to adding this into the food search group? At least the known brands of multi-vitamins? Thanks...

The big problem with the food log is that most users are only interested in seeing the core nutrients (calories, fats, carbs, protein) and aren't as interested in the 25+ vitamins and minerals. So, what you see today is a sort of compromise. Each additional nutrient displayed adds on to the time it takes to load the page, and for a ...

Back when I first started working on FoodsDatabase I had wanted to make one of those nifty food entry controls that allow you to select a number and then a drop-down with various units of measurement but, back then, I didn't understand a whole lot about programming so I elected to use multiple entries of the same food with different units of ...
